Instagram, holidays, and other randoms! | Neenah Wedding Photographer

Hey all!

It's been quite a while (again) since you've heard from me, so let's get caught up a little!

-------------

I'm sure you've all heard the Instagram hype. Selling your photos, not telling you what's happening, etc. Yikes!

If you are all like me, I adore Instagram. I use it all the time! I haven't started one for my business, but if you're into snapshots of my food (come for supper sometime!), my husband, our dog, and other randoms, feel free to check me out here. You may have noticed a few different shots of albums as I've received them from my pro lab. Disclaimer: Yep, it's my personal life, so welcome to super-behind-the-scenes. ;)

Anyway, I was mildly curious as to what was actually going on. Really, anything you put online is free game, and although it's quite frustrating, it's not changing. Despite my lovely post here.

To the point! I found a linked article from Facebook describing a bit more of what's happening, but this is what I summarized:

--The new terms actually limit Instagram from the terms before. Yes, they can use your images, but no longer can modify or change them.

--Among a few other things, they can use the images like Facebook has been using your activity in their Sponsored Posts.

--Speaking of Facebook, apparently Instagram just sold out to them. Now, that one is a bit disappointing to me. Each change Facebook makes leaves me with a bit more sour taste in my mouth.

So, if you want to check the article out yourself, here's the link. I know I will still be using the app just as much. I'm sure there are a few really awesome shots in Instagram's archives among all the #selfies taken in dingy bathrooms, but I'll save that kind of work for my professional bodies, lenses, and editing software. ;)

In other news, I have been busy behind the scenes. I've been working on albums, holiday cards, etc.

How fun is this? A little sampling of 2012... hard to believe it's almost the end of the year!

I start getting all sappy and emotional when I close out a year... lots of hard work, but so much fun and incredible memories! Keep watch for that post in the future.

-------------

Also, I just came up with a great idea for next year's senior reps (yes, class of 2014, this is YOU!)... that includes an awesome deal for the 2013 graduate. Look for that real, real soon.

-------------

I am continuing to add testimonials to Facebook, and all of those will show up on my website before too long also. If you have survived a photo session or wedding day with me (and lived to tell about it!), please email me a few sentences that I can share with others. I might be willing to compensate you for your time. ;)

-------------

This is enough for now... this time of year gets so busy with families and friends, cooking, cleaning, baking, etc. Be sure to take some time to breathe. And be thankful for what we have and love.

xoxo,
Mariah
